Trust & methodology

How Schoolwise scores areas, where our data comes from, and what the results mean — and don’t mean.

How SchoolFit scores work

SchoolFit scores are designed to help you compare areas based on nearby schools, not to predict admissions outcomes.

When you run a search, we look at schools within a set distance of each postcode and consider factors such as inspection outcomes, school phase, and how many suitable schools are nearby.

The score is a simple summary that makes it easier to compare areas at a glance. It is intended as guidance, not a guarantee that a particular child will be offered a place at any specific school.

Data sources

Schoolwise uses publicly available data from trusted UK sources.

We rely on Ofsted inspection data to understand school quality, the Department for Education’s Get Information About Schools (GIAS) dataset for core school details, and Office for National Statistics (ONS) postcode data for geographic reference points.

Property searches are opened directly on Zoopla. SchoolFit does not scrape property websites or store live listing data.

Coverage & limitations

Coverage is currently limited to London and South East England. We plan to expand to other regions over time.

School catchment areas, admission policies, and oversubscription rules can change from year to year. Distance alone does not determine eligibility.

For these reasons, SchoolFit results should be used as a starting point for research, alongside official admissions guidance from local authorities and schools.

Freshness

We regularly refresh our datasets to reflect the latest published information from Ofsted, GIAS, and ONS.

Even with regular updates, there may be delays between official changes and when they appear in SchoolFit. Always check the most recent information published by the school or local authority.

Beta disclaimer

Schoolwise is currently in beta. This means features, scoring logic, and coverage may change as we learn from real usage.

Scores are guidance, not guarantees. SchoolFit should not be relied upon as the sole basis for major decisions.

We encourage users to combine SchoolFit insights with official guidance and independent research.
